My wife had surgery at the beginning of the year, and we quickly recognized that life would look different for a while. Then the global pandemic hit shortly thereafter, and life looked very different for everyone. At times we have struggled to navigate the changes, but we recognize the silver lining of simplifying our lives and focusing on our family. We have enjoyed spending time together in nature and discovering new hikes, feeding ducks, catching fireflies, and roasting s’mores. We’ve played countless rounds of Uno and introduced our kids to Disney movies that we loved when we were their age. Although we have grieved missed opportunities, we are hopeful that we can look back on 2020 as a time that our family grew closer and became more resilient.
